Memoir Writing Workshop

Aug 25, 2022

Such an inspiring day on 17th August running a workshop on memoir writing with Justine Lister who was, until recently, Librarian and English teacher at Saffron Walden County High School. Justine is now running her own company ‘Read, Write, Ignite’ and has asked me to help her deliver creative writing courses and workshops. This was our first workshop together and we had seven attendees, each with really interesting backgrounds and stories to share and by the end of the day they had all produced some well crafted pieces of writing.  Here’s some of the feedback we received:

Very warm and professional class.
The group was diverse and you enabled and empowered all to feel welcome and encouraged.
I thoroughly enjoyed the course and learned an enormous amount.
Sharing so many different lives was enriching and inspiring.
I really enjoyed the workshop it was welcoming and very well structured. I feel that I have learnt so much in a short space of time. I feel really inspired to continue writing ‘my’ story.
Oh my goodness it has been so very enjoyable. Thank you for a very helpful writing experience. I will certainly be back for more!
I enjoyed today immensely. Such a lovely group where I felt safe to share my stories and ideas.
I learned so much today, especially about ‘showing’ not ‘telling’. I enjoyed working with the other group members and the day was excellent value for money. I would highly recommend this course.
I have learnt so much about myself and my writing skills today.
Everything we did was relevant and enjoyable. I am very interested in any future courses.
We were very honoured to have both tutors as I said you both gave warmth , a welcome yet you remained professional . You are both extremely highly educated and what is wonderful is you both share that with others.
Our next joint venture will be a five week creative writing course in November.
Here’s a photo of the memoirists, hard at work.
